DD - $2 COLD BREW

The first thing I noticed after ordering two Cold Brew Chocolate Cherry for Cristina and myself was that C got 3 Squirts of Syrup and I only received two, the difference being mine had Sugar and hers did not. Guess the Syrup is Sweet enough on its own must be the logic.

A very tasty number, now let us suspend disbelief in the fact that this is Coffee (even though it is), This is a different beast, the Flavored Iced Coffee. I sympathize with the purists point of view that the only way to go is Hot, Black, No Sugar but will be open to the fact that this is just plain a Coffee based beverage to have fun with, thats right FUN.

A pleasant blend of Chocolate Cherry but a tad higher on the Chocolatey side to my palate, still Delicious and there is even Coffee in it as a base. Ordered with "not too much ice" otherwise you could wind up with Coffee Water.

I sampled both and prefer the serving without sugar, the Syrup does indeed have the right amount of Flavor and even though I am new to Iced Coffee (thats a whole other story) I find Sugar to be slightly distracting unless in a Hot Cup of Joe.

Two Bucks apiece for a Medium size, quite the bargain by DD standards.

FAST FOOD FALAFEL - SUBWAY, NEW YORK CITY

My initial thought on the concept of  Subway Sandwich offering Falafel as a choice was intriguing which was quickly followed by the fact that I had better try one pronto because this just isn't going to last, much less stand a snowballs chance in hell of proliferating to their standard daily Menu.

After giving this a little thought during my test run today at a Subway Sandwich store (I will not call this place a shop) on trendy 14th street I pondered the fact of the many Vegetarians on the face of the planet who feel that Deep Fried Chick Peas might be a healthy choice.

I just plain like them.

So maybe the Falafel Sub will stick around, Only Time Will Tell.

9 Falafel Balls lay in wait for the next customer.

The Falafel Sub being prepared.

First Six Balls (lets face it more like McNugget sized Patties) are placed on the Bread of your choice, in my case it is my go to, The Italian Herbs & Cheese Bread and heated in a microwave/convection oven

Then comes the mandatory and vaguely elaborate "toppings" portion of the Sandwich but we are almost all familiar with this back from the Blimpie days of yore.

Subway jumped the Blimpie gun with a wider array of toppings and fresh baked Bread that nary is there a Blimpies (sandwich location) to be found, at least in the five boroughs compared to the Dunkin Donutesque wide berth and stronghold that Subway and Starbucks has this city practically on their tastebuds and knees with.

Time for my premeditated move as I have actually put some forethought towards this moment and decided to get the typical Falafel Fixings and nothing fancy to obliterate any taste nuances inherent herein.

Cucumber, Tomato, Iceberg Lettuce, Bermuda Onion and Extra Tzatziki Sauce was called upon.

The Falafel Patties were exactly as to be expected from Subway, I have had better and I have had worse. Could use a tad more seasoning but the texture was just about right and I could tell it was Falafel with my eyes closed (not that I did close my eyes except to blink). All in all the Sandwich I had been intrigued with came out on the positive side but I will probably stick with the Italian B.M.T.

Prepared to pay five bucks for a six inch sub it was surprising to see the foot long on sale for such a price ($4.99) and in Manhattan of all places.

IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE McKnow IT

Cristina was craving some Mickey D's and for the life of me I cannot explain why but she did.
As we sauntered on over I was a pessimistic critic of the corporate evils and brainwashing techniques employed to cloud the public at large into lusting after such items as the BIG MAC.

But while I was there I would just have to get something all the while presciently ready to complain on this here Blog.

Being of sound mind and meager pocket I ordered a McDouble and small Fries from the 2 for $3 menu ($ 17.95 after tax). This was the usual fare that I expected but after opening a can of Coke at home it improved somewhat, and Yes I am still hungry.

Quarter (actual size).

Yes, the Food is edible and the Fries should be imbibed while Hot as opposed to after a walk back home.
The Burger is extremely paltry, at least when you shop White Castle that is part of the charm.

An unsatisfying experience. Burger King wins Big Time.

McDonalds recently introduced the Larger sized MEGA Mac of which I cannot speak for and my franchise did not appear to have it on offer.

Anyways, not to complain,...
(what the heck was the last buncha malarkey)
McDonalds is my least favorite Fast Food Restaurant thus far.

Cristina got a paltry Hamburger, Chicken McNuggets (no extra charge for the Filler) and a medium Fries ($67.50)

Look, Up in the sky, It's a bird, It's a plane, It's The Golden Arches.

One of the straws almost dwarfs the size of my entire order.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS - TACO BELL YESTERDAY, BURGER KING TODAY, Brooklyn, New York.

This is not so much a photo of FOOD as it is a journal of places and Menu's but whatever !

A lot lighter on the pocket than the bill I was presented with at the Manhattan Taco Bell location.

This is more Like It.

The extensive
Taco Bell Menu board.

I will have one of everything please.

This is why they RULE.

Inexpensive Menu and as you will notice just one penny below the next numerical dollar denomination in some cases.

Kings Highway TB facade.

A 'nother Taco Bell photo.

Taken "on the clock" somewhere on a One Hour PC job.

And this leads us to BK or Burger King which I adore and have but once a year (on the average).

Unfortunately on this day I was not in the best of moods and to aggravate me further was the caterwauling screech and din of what seemed thousands of high school students amongst me so this will just be a photoplay, BK ever the awesomeness it is. Eff Mickey Dee's

Hot Dogs ?!!!

Well this is new for them and I am yet to try one but boy do I want to.

Cristina and my serving tray.

These were not so great as the "Cheetos" moniker implies. Much like the Dunkin' Donuts Reeses Donut, please stop using tried and true names ya' Bastards !!!

The Cheetos Chicken Fries were just that. A Chicken Tender "Fry" shaped powdered in Cheetos Flavored Bread Crumbs.

Boy was I NOT impressed.

The French Fry. Essential with a Burger.

TACO BELL - You Want It, You Buy It

The Beefy Fritos Burrito ($3.39) is what I ordered but my receipt is marked Beef Burrito Supreme ($3.99) which comes to $4.34 after tax, maybe they got my order wrong but while still Delicious prices have skyrocketed at The Bell.

From what I recall Taco Bell only migrated to New York City sometime in the early 1990's (just after Crush Soda) but their influence was long and far and I was chomping at the bit (or in this case the Taco) to savor its offers and savor I did. Tales were told of the fifty cent Fast Food Taco and I wanted in.

Used to be (after the migration) that you could get a Crunchy Taco for about 79 cents and during sales campaigns two for a buck, then it went up to 99 cents, then $1.19 but now to my amazement a Crunchy Beef Taco is $2.79 !!!

I never took economics in school and I do understand the concept of inflation but is this not a bit inflated ?

My receipt showing the numbers.

Will I continue to Eat at The Bell ?

Hells Yeah !!!

After using my internet Taco Bell location finder I find myself excitedly poised for a 10 minute walk to the nearest location.

I spy with my little eye something beginning with the letter "T"

"It's coming right at us !!!"

E.T.A. - 4 seconds

The Prep Station

Where the magic happens folks.

Like Clint Eastwood in "The Unforgiven" I quietly sat and enjoyed my Burrito wondering where the "Frito's" were at all, another hypothesis confirming that the counter person probably got my order wrong.

Afterwards a crowd of fans awaited me outside of Madison Square Garden.

Taco Bell, prices or not.

I will always Love You.

(What's That Smell ?) It's TACO BELL

The Gordita in all of its wonderment.

In this case a Beef one which is my preference, yes I enjoy the Bell's Grade Z Beef.

Taco Bell warrants approval on my Food Blog since I only have it about once a year much to my disapproval and general frustration yet it is my favorite Fast Food joint of choice.

I premeditated on my sojourn to procure 3 Gordita's for myself and a Chicken Gordita for Cristina but as expected new items were added to the Menu and I could not pass up a Quesalupa (one Gordita down, one Quesalupa up), so that's 3 Gordita's (including Cristina's) and a Quesalupa total.

Lets face it folks the Quesalupa is a Gordita with a slightly Crispy Soft Flatbread folded over the Ingredients. In reality it is a Chalupa (slightly crispy soft flatbread folded over the ingredients) but in this case it is a Cheese Bread but who could notice what with all the Hot Sauce and mingling of Flavors going on. Dont get me wrong its a winner in my book.

Exterior Shot.

The Dining Room.

I made sure to "take out" some extra Hot Sauce due to the quotation of the bill but these little packets will most certainly be put into use.

Supreme or not, SEVEN BUCKS for a Gordita !!!

The counterperson was very nice as I asked if she had made a possible mistake in my order due to the Restaurant price of my order. she told me "prices had recently gone up" and I replied "It's O.K. I never get to come here that often".

Was I happy and pleased and full of Taco Bell by the end of the day ?

Yes I was.

GYRO ll - 6/29/15 New York City

OH WHAT AN AWESOME SIGHT.

GYRO ll has been here since I can recall but the looming question is where does GYRO l reside, Does not really matter as this might be the best Gyro EVER.

Aside from the Quality Ingredients there is a Melange' of Flavor flying off the Dressing and Meat itself. The Sauce has a mild Vinegariness yet the Meat has a bite of Sweetness, this is unheard of upon earthly terms and Incomprehensibly unmatched amongst us mere mortals.

A Gyro Of Massive Proportions ($ 8.50)

I cannot pontificate much upon Lettuce, Tomato or Pita but trust me.
DELICIOUS

Interior.

Outerior.

They also have Pizza

And Then We Saw RUSH

TACO BELL - IF THE MANHOLE COVERS WERE BURRITOS THE SEWERS WOULD BE PARADISE

It has come to pass that I shall pontificate about my Favorite Fast Food Joint. Well, It Is Taco Bell.

OH what Beaniness and Cheesiness and Beefiness is on offer (Steak, Chicken and Veggie too of course) there is most certainly an array for the palate to appreciate in its wonderment. What Taco Bell has to offer is not what the million Burger joints do supply (we aint got no burgers, we are Taco Bell) mainly speaking it is Tex-Mex goodness fast food style and I am not kidding.

Take a gander at the Delights below.

Double Decker Taco - Its Tacolicious.

Cheesy Bean & Rice Burrito - I think its purring.

Black Bean Burrito - Could only be improved if it came with red sauce.

Grilled Stuft Nacho - My friend really got a "load" out of this but I remain impartial to the Panini style Toasted Tortilla which has been a Taco Bell staple for about a decade now.

Ad Campaign.

Beef Soft Taco - How Sweet It Is, Quite Delectable.

Chicken Gordita - God created the Gordita.

Nachos Supreme - The King of the Castle

7/22/15

The Meximelt - Melts in your mouth (with Bell Picco De Gallo).

Beef Gordita Supreme - Christina's Favorite.

Steak Gordita (no Sour Cream) - Christina's choice.

Bacon Club Chalupa - It's Fried but not inside.

Beef Burrito Supreme - Taco Bell's staple of Ecstasy.

The Box Rocks.

Christina's Steak Gordita

Smothered Burrito - Filled with Beef and Rice and Smothered outside with Cheese, Hot Sauce & Sour Cream. Quite Formidable but heavy on the Bready Tortilla shell.

9/9/15 - FIERY Ghost Pepper Loaded Griller - Hottest thing I ever had from Taco Bell, Did I Live ? most certainly, just a mild scratch if even a tad on the Scoville units barometer.
