THANKSGIVING WITH JOHN & CONNIE 2013

It was decided this year to give everyone a much needed break and get the Food Catered, Jamie found Frank & Eddies Meat Market online and this Feast was ordered on Thanksgiving eve. Jamie did still prepare a few items and it was still a considerable amount of work reheating everything within reasonable timing, everything worked out except for my contribution the Crescent Rolls which got there about 7 minutes too late.

My Personal Plate Pic above consists of Jamie's homeade String Bean Casserole in the center with (clockwise from noon) Roast Turkey, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Sausage Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce and  one Crescent Roll (America's Choice brand). There was also Broccoli, Dinner Rolls, Prosciutto Bread and Sweet Potatoes that did not make it to my plate. Everyone ate to their hearts content and there were plenty of leftovers.

Jamie made her famous Tortellini Meatball Soup with Carrots and Dill in Chicken Broth that we all had before Dinner.

For Dessert there was Pumpkin Pie, Blueberry Pie and Apple Pie.

Returning home I stopped at the corner store for a Blueberry Lemonade and as I quickly browsed the passing racks I spied those three letters that go so well together P,B & J. On second thought I purchased one ($1.50) but what could it be ?

11/30/13 - Two days after Thanksgiving I did my duty as a friend and honorary family member and helped vanquish those pesky Leftovers that adorned the Moroni Refrigerator. It was not easy but I did my best as an American-Italian.

This Plate (clockwise from noon) Is a hybrid of Sausage Stuffing and Stove Top Stuffing, Garlic Mashed Potatoes (of which I could not find the Chicken Gravy prior to Heating even though it was in a Chinese Soup Quart container at high noon), Broccoli Spiced with Garlic and some Quality HOM (Ham). The Hom was Delicious but I still do not have the hang of the new Moroni Microwave oven so certain things were hotter than others.

Like The Sun. (YES reference)

5:39 a.m. - I dreamt my Leftovers fought my Leftover's.

12/2/13 - Not the prettiest picture but quite Tasty and full of Turkeyliciousness. I placed my Leftovers of Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes and Turkey Gravy (smooched together) atop an English Muffin with American Cheese (Deli).

SAINT PATRICKS DAY 2013

On This Day did Concetta make a most Delicious Corned Beef and a new Sandwich to Love was discovered. I had always really liked Corned Beef but this was extra Fall Apart Tender and difficult not to go back for seconds that Jamie and I did at her moms house on the day after St. Patricks Day while Jeopardy played on the TV.

On the Sandwich is Corned Beef, Cabbage, Deli Mustard And a Slab of Boiled Potato on Rye Bread, Just Like Home.

Jamie Made the Most delicious Fussilli. There was Eggplant Parmigiana and Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana as well. Everyone was Happy But NOT ME *, Go ahead You Call Me Jamie when you Read THIS !!!

                                                   Fussilli

* - The Eggplant and Chicken Parmigiana were catered and while 5 Stars I prefer Jamie's home cooking, well we have to let her rest every so now and then.

PANKO CHIPOTLE CHICKEN (Homeade) 1/19/13

This was mouth-wateringly good, Sometimes even a Great Chef outdoes herself and that is what Jamie did with some simple ingredients, The Panko chipotle Bread crumbs are amazing but then Jamie did add some other Secret Spices as well.

this is what I wrote on facebook.

Chef Jamie outdid herself with a simple dish of Panko Chipotle Chicken Cutlets and Sazon Rice with Cheese.

And It WAS Thanksgiving Central. Jamie prepared Everything for the festive eating army at hand.

I was and always am a large admirer for the Antipasto beginner's portion (with the little olive fork and all) and this was the Beautifully arranged plate before I secured my grubby little hands into it.

one of the florets is NOT. guess and comment below.

OMG, The Sausage Bread, OMG.

What can I say, Jamie's Sausage Bread cannot be beat.
Especially since it doesn't stay around long enough for any contenders to get a chance.

Pumpkin Tortellini in a Cream Sauce, Done To Perfection and Creamilicious.

FRANKENSTORM PARTY (Hurricane Sandy) 10/28/12 Brooklyn, New York

Photobucket

New York Subway's closed on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in anticipation for Hurricane Sandy so I got to Jamie's house before the curfew with some supplies (Vodka and Chocolate too).

Photobucket

My first stop was the local Waldbaum's in my neighborhood and aside from long lines at the register the Bread section was decimated, My patience got the best of me and fast so I decided to get on the train (while I still could) and shop at the market by Jamie's house.

Photobucket

Sunday evening and the city prepares for the worst, meanwhile in the kitchen Jamie prepares some fresh Chicken Cutlet's she got from the Turkish store downstairs replete with an impromptu version of Dirty Water Rice, Mesclun Salad and Shredded Cheddar Cheese over the top. Jamie concocted the "Bowl" version as opposed to my "Plate" version so I stole her idea and followed her lead, mine had Franks Hot Sauce on it as well.

We watched "The Green Mile"

Photobucket

Monday it got blusterier as the day went on and we did some shopping at the corner store (Thank God I got Crunchy Cheez Doodles) by early evening Sandy made landfall and we had Taco's during the Hurricane which was mostly wind and flooding on the coastlines and not so much rain, Jamie lives in walking distance of Sheepshead Bay (which contains water) and the next day we heard flood waters had risen to just down her block, Jamie was in Area "B" but they only had to evacuate Area "A".

Photobucket

Tuesday morning and I awoke in the pre wee dawn hours with not much sleep at all and from the looks of it neither did the two newscasters I was watching who were just there twelve hours ago, These hottie chicks must be on blowski.

Photobucket

The wooden construction fence adjacent to Jamie's apartment entrance was toppled during the storm but not much else seemed radically different on her block.

Photobucket

Tuesday evening and the storm had passed us, at 9:13 p.m. there was lights out in Jamie's apartment, this lasted for nearly three hours and after I had left for home as well. Pictured here is the emergency Floodlighting in her hall.

JAMIE'S FOOD (AUGUST)

Alas it was at the House of Moroni where I Really learned to eat, this is where communal Cold Cuts came into play and to top that off I was no longer ashamed to order a meager quarter pound of Meat or Cheese at the Deli counter, After All I was going to get seven more items, that and Carol worked the Cold Cut counter at Danza's and I must have seen her there with my dad and assured me they will slice to order. Also of note there is no such word as "Leftover" in the Moroni household.

                                            Pile of Chicken Cutlets.

Spiral Sausage, (1) Broccoli Rabe and (1) Cheese with Parsley.

Zucchini with Caramelized Onions and Homeade Sauce.

                                            The Broccoli Rabe.

Eye Spy with my little eye, Chef Jamie.

Frank & Sal's Salumeria, Right Smack Dab on my corner.

                                                  Imagine That.

7/16/12 - Angel Hair Pasta (Russo's Homeade) with Basil.
