TONY'S PIZZERIA lll 5/27/16 Brooklyn, New York

So, my trek to sample every Slice that Tony's has to offer might be dwindling in everyday terms but this is somewhat of a pessimistic outlook, on the optimistic side,... WELL

I have yet to try a "Roll" or "Hero" from Tony's nor have I had a Pasta, Salad or Dinner Dishes as to me those are more "Home made" deliberations but I do bet Tony's makes a Mean Chicken Roll (as does my untried Frank & Sals) and I do look forward to my graduation in this area.

I will be venturing to Tony's in about six hours hence* in full knowledge that a White Slice and a Pepperoni Slice have yet to be procured.

* - it wound up being a Lasagna Slice tonight (6/15) for the strict reason of HOW COULD I PASS IT UP, they don't always have them (see entry ll for Lasagna Slice review).

5/27/16 - White Slice with Broccoli ($3.50) - This was an "extra" slice purchased on a Friday as opposed to our usual Wednesday sojourn. All that can be said is an exceptional White Slice with the addition of plain Broccoli (why Broccoli Rabe is not rampant in Pizzerias is beyond me) which makes a nice summer slice.

6/1/16 - Vodka Square ($3.50) - There was nothing negative about this yet I was nonplussed (actually the crust on the underbelly was overdone) but all the ingredients were in attendance and Delicious. Vodka Sauce, Mozzarella and a Drizzle of Olive Oil sprinkled with Basil. I am sampling all of my Slices "virgin style" but this would have been perfectly amped up with some Red Pepper or Garlic.

6/8/16 - The Carbonara Slice ($3.50) - And so it came to pass that the day finally happened (and I almost missed it as the Carbonara Slice was sharing a Pizza tray with some Bacon Ranch Slices that have a very similar look) that I bagged me an elusive Carbonara Slice.

Being a weekly regular customer and no stranger to small talk I had previously been recommended this Slice by the counterperson but kept missing it even after questioning on wether the Carbonara Slice was a frequented denizen of a particular day of the week to which the reply was "They just make it whenever they feel like it".

Knowing the wonders of Carbonara Sauce due to my proximity to Chef Sean and Chef Joe in years past I was indeed intrigued. Carbonara Sauce to my remembrance being Heavy Cream, Butter, Peas, BACON and possibly Sauteed Onions and/or Mushrooms.

Tony's Carbonara Slice was well worth the wait topped with Mozz, Bacon, EVOO and a Cream Sauce. No Peas but maybe some Butter and Boy Am I Not Complaining. Delicious.

6/15/16 - Got another Lasagna Slice, too good to pass up.

6/28/16 - The Pepperoni Slice -  This is indeed a Pepperoni Slice but a Damn Good One.

July 2016 - Cristina and I ordered for delivery from Tony's one night and this was achieved. Cristina got a Grilled Chicken Salad of which I have no photo of I am quite surprised but I had been "jonesing" for a Philly Cheesesteak Hero or "Roll", they didn't have the Rolls at that moment so I ordered a Hero which was just absolutely Excellent, I cannot sing their praises enough.

7/27/16 - Mushroom Pepperoni Slice -  I keep frequenting them wanting a "Roll" or even a "Beef Pattie" but the Pizza Slices constantly appear consisting of a different variation and I find it impossible to deny the experience.

As has been the climate on these entries not much to elaborate on.

A Brilliant Slice from Tony's topped with Pepperoni and Mushroom.

8/3/16 - Spinach Slice (thick crust) -  Done in the style of the most formidable Eggplant Slice on a thick Crust but this was a Spinach Slice.

TONY'S PIZZERIA ll - Brooklyn, New York

2/3/16 - Tony's Special - Perusing the Tony's Pizzeria Menu a month ago I took note that the "Tony's Special" had two kinds of Cheese, both fresh and plain Mozzarella and this intrigued me and also made me wonder. Well, I finally had a Slice and this one is a killer.

Topped with Sauce, Tomato, Basil, Garlic (which was somewhat indistinguishable) and the two Cheeses which added a chewy consistency that had me praising its wonderment.

Never judge a Slice by its looks, this appeared to be a regular Slice but is far from it.

3/2/16 - Chicken Bacon Ranch - Pizza became a free for all somewhere to my knowledge in the 80's with its ever widening girth of toppings (Hawaiian Pizza comes to mind but that is probably from the 60's) and this includes two of the pleasure tasties (Bacon & Chicken) in the ever widening game, once things became further and farther from a "slice" one of the odder yet fitting Sauces Ranch Dressing garnered itself into the roster.

As if I had to spell it out.

Bacon done to perfection, almost imperceptible Chicken (due to the Power of Bacon) but nary a hint of Ranch Dressing and of course Tony's almost perfect slice (as one does not truly exist) makes this yet another complimentary addition to their most formidable army of Dough and Cheese.

3/16/16 - Grandma Slice ($3.00) - My only criticism is that I could have had a second Slice as this left me less than stuffed, other than that this is all of the Classic Grandma Slice ingredients.

Fresh Mozzarella, Marinara Sauce & Basil Leaves Drizzled with Olive Oil.

3/30/16 - Vodka Slice - Firstly Delicious so as not to give the wrong impression but the initial ever important first bite reminded me of English Muffin Pizza for whatever reason (and mind you I love english muffin pizza's) which shall remain a culinary mystery, must have been something about the Sauce ingredients.

Fresh Mozz and Vodka Sauce and that is pretty much that, maybe some Olive Oil and of course the Crust. Like everything else at Tony's so far its absolutely a winner.

4/20/16 - Lasagna Slice ($3.50) - Everything a Lasagna Slice should be.

Personally I don't need any Noodles on my Slice (Lasagna or otherwise) and this was absent of any.

All of the basic Lasagna Ingredients were included (Ground Beef, Ricotta Cheese, Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese and Spices). Yet another "Oh My God This Is Delicious" Slice from Tony's.

5/4/16 - Buffalo Chicken Slice ($3.50) - Delicious Diced Chicken atop a Tony's Slice but the secret is in the Hot Sauce which while not overpoweringly Hot has that perfect Tanginess to it.

5/4/16 - Garlic Knots - Just a Good Garlic Knot, nothing else really to say.

Cristina found them to be too Oily but "Too Oily" is not in my dictionary.

5/11/16 - Chicken Parmigiana Slice ($3.50) - Extra Cheese and Diced Chicken Parmigiana grace this slice. Very Cheesy but not at the top of my list. I keep yearning for a "Tonys Special" Slice.

5/25/16 - Eggplant Slice (thin crust) ($3.50) - Fresh Mozz, Basil, Olive Oil, Eggplant and Sauce. This was mouth wateringly great and to me surpasses the "Deep Dish" style Eggplant Slice which is Tony's usual creation. The Olive Oil and Basil stuck out for me on this one for some reason.

TONY'S PIZZERIA - Brooklyn, New York

Both Kristine & Christina have expressed their positive Culinary appreciation over Tony's Pizzeria on separate occasions for about a year now and as I trust both their opinions my apprehension levels were on a low but boy was I in for a Treat.

When hard pressed for recommendation of a better Pizzeria I am quite dumbfounded but I do speak out of turn as a newbie I be.

The Pepperoni mini-roll ($1.00) and Eggplant Slice ($3.50).

As I was sharing with Christina and this is the "Slice" she highly recommended the counter worker cut the Slice in half and then quarters so photographed above is but a half slice. Served on thick Crust unlike the other Slices on display with Delicious Sauce and Sweet Eggplant this was Heaven. On a side note they did not heat this baby up enough but it was still formidable.

The mini-roll was Pepperoni and had a nice kick to it.

On my next sojourn I shall try the plain Slice or Sicilian (or both) as this proves a Pizzeria's true substructure.

12/30/15 - While the Broccoli mini-roll ($1.00) may not be a match for a carnivore like myself the Pepperoni mini-roll is still most formidable. Now if they would only create a Broccoli Rabe mini-roll,...

hmmmm,... might be an idea for some home baking indeed.

White Pizza with Bacon, I cannot find this on the Menu, more details coming.

Sicilian Slice, also known as a "Square" but this Pie was overdone to my liking. I did order one but pictured below is to me a "proper" Sicilian Pie. Christina liked the "burnt Cheese" I am not so much a fan.

1/6/16 - Classic SLICE - The yardstick as it were.

This is how its supposed to be, near perfection.

The first bite of the "crux" of the Pie releases the full Flavor of Sauce and Cheese intermingling with the Dough and tells you all you need to know, the DNA if you like of the Slice and by the third bite you have taken it all in and give yourself up to absolute pleasure.

Sauce was just right, Cheese was fully correct in the Stretchy & Gummy department (S & G) and the Dough was not tasteless, of course the Crust at the end comes into play as you finish your Slice and this was heavenly as well.

In my opinion nearly perfect.

9 out of 10 Pizzerias in Brooklyn used to be Great and now the ratio has diminished to 1/10

Tony's is in the 1.

Tony's Sicilian Pie done just right, my next step into a wider universe.

E.T.A. - 18 seconds and the Pizza awaits.
