GUNK HAUS

After Apple picking we attended Gunk Haus which to my consideration is not the greatest name for an Eating establishment as in "Get this Gunk off my Plate" but a fine Restaurant it was.

French Fries of a considerable momentum with a Dipping Sauce of unknown origin.

Of Unkown Origin.

The BURGER, of which I hear was Delicious.

Hungarian Goulash. This I have tried for the first time but it was a paltry sized Dish for the price of twenty bucks.

Pork Sammich.

Sausage Platter.

No Idea

Black Forest - Stout & Sweet Cherry Wine.

How could I Resist.

The Facade.

The Mailbox.

PROGRESSO SOUPS lll

10/15/15 - Minestrone - Very Rich and Delectable. Broth is Thick and a good amount of Spinach, Progresso is an example of Exemplary Canned Craftsmanship.

I knew this would be would be a Great one . Filled with Penne, String Beans, Potatoes, with Carrots and Peas.

10/25/15 - Savory Beef Barley Vegetable - This was akin to Campbell's Soup Beef Vegetable but one hundred times better because it is Progresso.

My personal opinion but come on, gimme a break here.

Carrots, Tomatoes, Barley and,... Well Beef in a Savory Broth from a can. A Definite Winner.

10/27/15 - Vegetable (light) - OK as this being a "light" brand I am not excepting much but it certainly looks good. Rotini, String Beans, Carrots, Celery, Tomato perhaps Onions and Corn.

How can one go wrong.

OK not as Salty but still Great.

10/28/15 - Hearty Penne in Chicken Broth (Vegetable Classics) - Penne, Carrots, Celery & Parsley in Chicken Broth but it being a Vegetable Classic I must add Grated Cheese. Too much Penne but heck it's called "Hearty Penne".

10/29/15 - Lentil with Roasted Vegetables (Vegetable Classics) - Hearty and Rich in Lentil's but of course I shall add some Grated Cheese (rule being first few spoonfuls are without Cheese or any additive to give a true review).

Packed with Zucchini, Squash, Carrots, Celery, Modified Food Starch and well,.. Lentils.  Cannot wait to get to that Dollop of Grated Pecorino Romano unless it disintegrates as I type this.

Nope, Got It.

Needs a tad of Salt, I can remedy that.

FOOD DAY ll - 2015

An Unusually Long and Contorted Noodle.

Just under a year has passed and FOOD DAY TWO loomed and reared its Delicious head so we most willingly did sally forth with dreams of Delectable Delights.

Christina, Maria, Frank and I had a most Digestable afternoon.

Lioni's sporting a Frank (A.O.F)

Fetching my Prosciutto Balls.

No words for this.

It's Bread, Wait its Not, OH MY GOD

That Bowling Ball IT'S MY WIFE !!!.

Maria sporting a Villabate with a baby on board.

We got some Fresh Out Of The Oven (O.O.T.O) at Da Vinci this time and just like always, PIZZA Heaven. Absolutely Perfect but Silver Star loomed on the horizon so I shared a Square with Christina and Frank being the trooper he is had a Slice and half Square, Well it is Food Day isn't it.

BROOKLYN BABY.

Silver Star sporting a Frank (A.O.F.)

And The Stars Aligned.

Maria had Shrimp Mei Fun Combination which comes with Egg Roll and choice of Rice and Soup, in this case it was Pork Fried Rice (beyond compare) and Wonton Soup (also beyond compare) and they also applied us with utensils to consume Foodage with.

The crowning Glory (I shall never order this again).

Beef & Tomato.

This has been glaring at me on the Menu for Decades and I became Quite Intrigued and it tasted Exactly what it was called, it tasted like Beef & Tomato (in Gravy) and that my friends is that.

Quite bland for my taste. With many other things to offer on the Vast Menu this was a loser. I added some Soy Sauce and took 4/4th's of it home as a Leftover ragamuffin.

Speaking of Leftovers.

Frank is a wise man who knows the deal.

We also Love the band RUSH.

Check out his Plate(s) (pictured above)

Wonton Soup (of which we know Silver Star Rules at) flanked by Shrimp (don't know what happened to the Mei Fun) with a pair of Dim Sum (kill me now, so good) with a Leftover Egg Roll (which I hope was baked as opposed to microwaved) and half of #44 - Paul Sorvino (Broccoli Rabe and Sausage) from Lioni's who don't Eff around. Eleven American Bucks.

And just to chuck it in as they say I made some Delicious Ravioli from Pastosa the night before for Christina and I.

OTHER PEOPLE'S FOOD - RUBINO'S, Miller Place, Long Island

This just in from our Culinary Commentator out in the field.

Baked Ziti with a side of Meatballs ($17.32)

Rubino's which is 45 minutes west of the Hampton's serves authentic Italian Dishes (I am assuming prepared by authentic Italian's) and is reported to be quite great from a fellow Brooklynite and peer of mine who knows what the Real Deal is.

Here is her report.

Enough Mozzarella & Ricotta to keep the Pasta Moisty and the Palate Delighted.

Excellent Cheese/Meat ratio and the Meatballs are done right, not just Bread Crumbs and Eggs, Its got all the Seasonings.

Also Fresh Warm Rolls on the side which were sensually absorbed by the thick Marinara.

PROSCIUTTO BALL SANDWICH

I must say I believe this is My Creation because why would anyone with a sane mind combine a Prosciutto Ball with Cream Cheese on Bread ?

Well this goes far back to the 80's and usually at around the wicked hour of 3 a.m.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

MSG is in on the action but she only wanted the Cream Cheese.

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS - CITI FIELD, Queens, New York

Citi Field graciously offers its employee's a Free Breakast or Lunch as it were before they get going to work, well they say well fueled is well working, no they don't say that I just made it up. And it is a rushed Breakfast of sorts so you can get to your work station with time to spare.

Anyways there is a little cafeteria section past the employee entrance and I have enjoyed a few Meals there, none of this was Gourmet but certainly Edible Delectables and of course I had to grab a few pics. Everything is served in a Buffet style so you compose your own Salad and then are served the main Dish by Cafeteria employees.

There is a Fountain Soda machine and Coffee/Tea station (not pictured) around the corner at the end as well but where the heck is the Hot Chocolate and the Booze!!!

Pulled Pork over Rice flanked by a Salad which I believe contains Greens, Corn and Shredded Cheese.

Greens, Shredded Cheese, Corn and a couple of Tomatoes.

This Is before I learned that the Salad Dressing packets were at the far end of the Buffet by the Cups and Sugar and such.

Dunkin Donuts Cups mind you as that is the brand Citi Field sponsors, or do they sponsor Citi Field ?

AHAA !!! (in a Ralph Kramden voice). Chicken Cordon Bleu, one of my favorites.

Whilst waiting in the Chow line I spied these Breaded little cuties ahead of me and either Meat or Fish I wanted one. Certainly of the Frozen fare but fine, my only complaint is that the Cheese in the center wasn't Ooey and Gooey but hey this isn't Tavern On The Green.

Flanked by Rotini Pasta and a type of Green which I cannot completely identify but the Greens were kind of too Chewy so in the end I chucked them (in the garbage that is).

Salad is Greens, Shredded Cheese, most likely Corn under the Cheese and Beets.

I am not particularly a fan of Beets but the night before I dreamt of them so when I saw them I thought "Heck better get some". Topped with "Newman's Own" Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing post photo now that I knew where to procure the Dressing from.

Kind of a Marinated Chicken Breast but what is that green thing at the bottom of the photo ? might have come with the Chicken which was served to me but I haven't the foggiest, this in fact remains a mystery. Also some Salsa and Picco De Gallo atop the Chicken but there must have been a self serve station at the end of the line because in this fast moving and packed Cafeteria there is no time to ask for "a little spoon of this and a little spoon of that" once again this is an enigma.

BUT !!!

The Coup De Grace was the CORN SALAD.

On a personal level I love CORN SALAD ever since I played a gig at a rich persons house and during a break we were offered some Barbeque Food and I said "Gimme Sommadat".

From looking at the photo I see some Diced Tomato and maybe String Bean in the mixture but this does not matter, while I was looking down the Chowline with foresight to my choices (they always go to the right don't they) I knew I was going to say "Gimme Sommadat", actually I just said "Corn Salad Please" but I can imagine I am a Bad Ass can't I.

And here we come to the end of the 2015 Baseball season. This was taken on the morning of the first game of the Subway Series between the Mets and the Yankees (Mets Won Yay).

Roast Beast and Mashed Potatoes.

Mashed Potatoes were of the Real not powdered kind but akin to the title of this Blog Where Was The Gravy !!! but its OK I ate them all. The Roast Beef on the other hand was extremely difficult to cut with a plastic knife and not the tenderest cut so about half was finished.

Salad is a few Greens, two Cherry Tomato halves, Shredded Cheese and Corn topped also post photo by "Newman's Own" Creamy Caesar Dressing.

And of course a cup of Mountain Dew.

LIONIS - Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York

Just Look at it Wouldja.

Fresh Mozz in the foreground and Smoked Mozz in the background.

Couple of Tomatoes too.

An Ocean Of Olives.

Pepperoni and Cheddar Rice Balls ?!!!
Unheard of Until Now.

The Preparation Area 51
no photos please.

A Beaut of a photo but sadly I did not procure the photoed Loaf.

I must thank my friend Roy for purchasing all the goods on this day but I did in fact turn this down.

Goes without saying.

Best Prosciutto Balls in town thus far.

MSG Vs. The Prosciutto Ball.

Uhh, Yeah.
