SAINT PATRICKS DAY 2013

On This Day did Concetta make a most Delicious Corned Beef and a new Sandwich to Love was discovered. I had always really liked Corned Beef but this was extra Fall Apart Tender and difficult not to go back for seconds that Jamie and I did at her moms house on the day after St. Patricks Day while Jeopardy played on the TV.

On the Sandwich is Corned Beef, Cabbage, Deli Mustard And a Slab of Boiled Potato on Rye Bread, Just Like Home.

Jamie Made the Most delicious Fussilli. There was Eggplant Parmigiana and Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana as well. Everyone was Happy But NOT ME *, Go ahead You Call Me Jamie when you Read THIS !!!

                                                   Fussilli

* - The Eggplant and Chicken Parmigiana were catered and while 5 Stars I prefer Jamie's home cooking, well we have to let her rest every so now and then.

TUNA SALAD ON SODA CRACKERS WITH TOMATO SOUP.

No Matter how much the Saltine Cracker in this photo is "positioned" for the lens it certainly makes no difference.

Does It Really Happen To You. ?

This is the Classic of all Classics, The Beethoven if you like.

Tuna Salad on Soda Crackers with Campbell's Tomato Soup.

Don't Let It Fool You, Sounds Paltry But Is Also The Elixir of........

LIFE SAVERS FLAVORS

Candy Flavors and mainstream tastes ebb, flow come and go but I had clearly seen my favourite Life Saver, the "TANGY" Line go to the dogs as it began to disappear from American shelves before the Zombie Apocalypse was predicted and just as the "Sour" sensation was dimming. I was never amongst it but Sour and Tangy was in, these days (3/13) it is NOT.

My latest obsession (July 2013) is the Gummi. Never liked them before but right now I am enjoying all the Flavors.

THE CORN MUFFIN

One of Mother Nature's Finest Gifts.

The Corn Muffin.

This one above is from the mexican supermarket on my corner and from viewing you can understand why I did not hesitate the "dollar" investment this involved.

This was the most Delicious and corny of Muffins, I Pan Fried slices of Muffin with Exorbitant amounts of Butter for Maximum Acceleration.

THE 21ST ANNUAL NAPOLI PIZZA PARTY - 3/9/13 STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK

The Napoli Pizza Off now in its 21st year is Truly a one of a kind family experience and I was honored to be there once again. As testament to the Many delicious Homeade and Handmade Pizza's being made that were simply irresistible you can see in the photo above a Stuffed Stromboli, Ravioli Slices and Sfincione all of which I was too stuffed to even consider. How is this possible ? Come to the Napoli's and find out if you can get in.

Prom Queen - Jamie's Grilled Cheese with Bacon and Tomato (American & Muenster Cheese)

Sometimes to beat a Pizza you have to NOT be a Pizza and in Jamie's case it worked as this pie flew off the plate hardly finding time to transfer itself from the Pizza skin.

Athlete of the Year - Donna's Gnocchi Putanesca made for the most Italian Pie with Olives and also left the room before most had a chance to sample this beauty as well.

Class Clown - I Cant believe it took me this long to make a Prosciutto Ball Pizza.

I HAD TO make a Prosciutto Ball Pizza after all my Himming and Hawwing Year round about the Glory of the Prosciutto Ball, Decent Pie and the Prosciutto Balls (which were called Spike's Balls at the proceedings) were nice and crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside being baked in a high temperature oven.

Most Likely To Succeed - Steven's Penne A La Vodka Pizza

Steven's first entry this year had a simple yet zen-like premise. Steven opined that " I Love Vodka Sauce with Penne and I Love Pizza so why not put them together" and he did to great response. Yet another Pizza that disappeared immediately.

Student Of the Year - Concetta's Ravioli Pie.

Can you really go wrong ?, this was Concetta's creation this year and full of Cheesy Goodness both within the homeade Ravioli's Ricotta (Queen Anne if I am not mistaken) and the shredded Mozzarella topside enhanced with homeade Pizza Sauce and Pizza Dough.

Best Dressed - Gary's Taco Pizza

There were literally three or four of us (who shall remain unnamed) waiting outside the oven for this baby to exit, the secret here aside from the Dizzyingly Delicious Seasoned Ground Beef was the Chilled Homeade Pico de Gallo topping which was added after this Pie had cooled just a tad. Overwhelmingly Munchable.

SCALLION PANCAKES

This Began with the best intentions but once you start looking up "recipes" online (in my case) as opposed to your remembrances and gut feelings the original outcome is usually not reached.

Rolling up the Scallions and Sesame Oil was unfamiliar to what I recall my mothers recipe was but it certainly sounded appetizing so I continued to follow my "fusion recipes" Logical Rule.

A sort of Fry Bread version of a Scallion Pancake but not what I was aiming for.

ONION DIP

Its been my favorite Dipping snack since I can remember.
Dont try to sell me that pre-made Onion dip in a vacuum packed can.
Two Simple Ingredients equal Nirvana.
The Initials for Onion Dip is O.D.

FOOTNOTE - Do NOT use Fat-Free Sour Cream in your ingredients.

It does not Coagulate well enough for Dip.

BULGOGI

It took less than 24 hours for this Salty Saucy Seed to Succeed, a couple of times a year is Bulgogi needed to anyone who has tried it and rightly so for those who crave asian cooking and tender meats.

It almost always begins the same as I view a Youtube "recipe" video on asian cooking only to find that the abundance of ingredients is overwhelming just to make one dish. Being in a freewheeeling mood while watching a few video clips of bulgogi preparation it came to me that my mother who made this for me in my childhood never used such ingredients on the list as "Pear Juice"

These videos are most enjoyable.

small plate of White Rice (I chickened out and went to the Chinese Restaurant, Bulgogi and Kimchi (from the jar).

The Sirloin in the "marination" phase, this time I added too much Soy Sauce as can be seen.
