FRUIT ON THE BOTTOM - Le' YOGURT

It is time to ponder my latest daily Food obsession with Yogurt.

Healthy, Tasty, Creamy and available in an ever widening plethora of Flavors and limited editions as well as beating the heck out of Oatmeal and packaged Cereals to my taste, I find it difficult just having one small six ounce serving a day but it sure is fun trying all on offer.

Mixed Berry Blended - First thing I noticed was that as the name implies this was already Blended as in no Fruit on the bottom, a pre-mixed Yogurt as it were, the others are labelled "Fruit on the Bottom". This is a Low-Fat Blended Yogurt whereas some of the others are of the Non-Fat Fruit on the Bottom variety, you live and learn and as this is Delicious I am not complaining.

Head and shoulders thicker than most Yogurts (certainly moreso than Oikos or Dannon as of this writing) Rich in Berry flavoring but dare I say a slight grainy, sandy texture.

Peach (non-fat) - Very mild and lacking in Food coloring almost completely (which is fine by me).
Refreshing Peach taste.

Raspberry (non-fat) - Excellent Raspberry Flavor. mildly Sour aftertaste.

Blueberry (non-fat) - Probably my favorite at least so far, Rich Blueberry taste and it works just right, almost fragrant.

Strawberry Banana (low-fat) - I'm not really a fan of Banana but it does transfer well over to Yogurt and when coupled with Strawberry is quite tasty.

Coffee Blended (low-fat) - I did not care so much for the "Coffee" flavored Oikos brand but after all this is Chobani. Such a strange combo, the sourness of the Yogurt with the darkness of the Coffee. Oddly reminds me of Onion Dip in an weird way.

Lemon Blended (non-fat) - Another flavor I am not a huge fan of but worth a fair shot. There is a very familiar Lemon scent to this but I cannot quite place it. Just what to expect from a Lemon Yogurt, kind of like eating some plain Yogurt sprayed with pledge furniture polish. I will pass on this one next time.

Key Lime Blended (low-fat) - Smells very close to the Lemon Blended Yogurt so in one way I probably should have held off on this one, on the other hand it will make a good A-B test only a few days apart. Interesting, there is a slight difference here but only slight. Key Lime is Tarter, more Flavorful and I just plain prefer it.

Passion Fruit (low-fat) - I was so looking forward to this Flavor that I purchased two containers so I could have one on the night, I have never had the actual Fruit but always love anything "flavored" thusly. We may have a new winner here taking first place, certainly amongst the uppermost in my book. Contains a few Passion Fruit Seeds as well.

Blackberry (non-fat) - Well this is a colorful little number, either lots of Fruit on the bottom or due to the fact that these are Blackberries the Fruit is very dark. Very flavorful and a welcome addition to the line.

Blood Orange (non-fat) - Also looking forward to this as I love this flavor. On the Creamsicle side with a dark and deep Orange flavor as would be expected from Blood Orange.

Black Cherry (non-fat) - Well, I am a Black Cherry guy, lets see. An instant favorite, Black Cherry is Awesome-O.

Strawberry (non-fat) - There is a reason why this is probably the number one Flavor in Yogurts.

Vanilla Blended (non-fat) - Not my favorite flavor in anything but Ice Cream but also not a turn off, here we go. Well, its Vanilla, kinda like Plain but with sweetener.

Pineapple (low-fat) - One of my favorite flavors, this might do the trick and I am frankly surprised I had not purchased a container at all, bought this one at Rite-Aid as a standalone Yogurt. OH YES, Delicious.

Mango (low-fat) - Very pleasant and light. Almost Peachy in texture but then again so is an actual Mango.

Coconut Blended (low-fat) - Oddly I have been looking forward to this offering and am not a Coconut fan, hardly at all. Contains Coconut flakes and no I am not a fan for a reason I see, perhaps combine this with Pineapple for a Pina Colada Yogurt.

Guava Blended (low-fat) - I was surprised to not find this on the list as I thought I had eaten my way through most Flavors, glad I checked. Very Citrusy and refreshing but of Guava I am only a mild fan.

SIMPLY 100 Flavors -

Mixed Red Berry Blended (non-fat) - Nice and Creamy and Nice and Berryful, Less Sweet

LIMITED BATCH Flavors -

Maple Blended (low-fat) (limited batch) - Very light Maple flavoring, almost plain. Tastes like autumn.

Apple Cinnamon Blended (low-fat) (limited batch) - This may prove to be an interesting combo, it certainly works in Oatmeal for me. A little heavy on the Cinnamon side but very Breakfasty.

CHOBANI FLIP - The Ben & Jerry of Yogurt

Peppermint Perfection (Vanilla low-fat Yogurt with Dark Chocolate Cookies, Dark Chocolate and Peppermint White Chocolate Chunks) - Almost like Dessert, Rich in Peppermint Flavor and Cookie Crunch, the Vanilla Yogurt adds a nice touch but I bet this would work with plain Yogurt as well.

Salted Caramel Crunch (Caramel low-fat Yogurt with Salted Pretzels, Chocolate and Praline Pecans) - These Flips are quite involved aren't they ? The Yogurt is pretty good on its own but since it is Caramel never the twain shall meet, well until now. Time to do the "Flip". Pretzels and Yogurt are just plain WEIRD, Chocolate and Nuts work well enough. Not a Flip fan but shall carry on sampling.

Sriracha Mango (Mango low-fat Yogurt with Sriracha coated Rice Crisps, mini Sesame Sticks and Roasted and Salted Cashew Pieces) - This one I have very much been looking forward to just because it is so intriguing. Mango blended is very spicy and tangy. OK Hot & Sour it is. I am still not a fan of "Flips".

Peanut Butter Dream (Vanilla low-fat Yogurt with Honey Roasted Peanuts, Peanut Butter Clusters and Milk Chocolate) - Slap the legend "Peanut Butter" on it and I will certainly be interested. Almost Maple upon initial contact but the Peanut Butter Clusters and Chocolate cut through nicely. Peanut Butter is there anything you cannot do. One of the better "Flips".

Tropical Escape (Pineapple Coconut low-fat Yogurt with Hazelnuts, Toasted Coconut and Granola) - After having a Coconut Yogurt earlier today and wondering how it would go combined with Pineapple Yogurt I see that it works, now lets do the "Flip". I can see why people like Granola in their Yogurt, this one works well enough.

Chocolate Haze Craze (Chocolate Hazelnut flavored low-fat Yogurt with Hazelnuts & Milk Chocolate) - Exactly what it says it is, Great for Chocolate lovers but as its a "Flip" not so much for me. Finish it ? Yes I did.

Give me a plain Chobani Blueberry Yogurt any day.

Oats & Ancient Grains -

Mixed Berry Ancient Grains Blended (low-fat) - Always a favorite, lets check this one out. OK, totally grainy/sandy but not in a bad way, includes Oats, Quinoa, Buckwheat, Amaranth and Chia Seeds. I can get used to this.

Blueberry Blended Mighty Oats (low-fat) - Like having your Yogurt and eating your Oatmeal as well, a splendid combo.

Peach Blended Mighty Oats (low-fat) - Delicious, I can get used to having steel cut Oats in my Yogurt.

Oikos - My second favorite Yogurt so far but I am still a "newbie" at this. Oikos appears to be the "other" most popular "Greek" Yogurt at the time of this entry. Not to be repurchased shall be the Cafe Latte' (coffee) and Orange Cream (creamsicle) selections of this or probably any other brand Yogurt which were only just palatable.

Oikos produces "chocolate on top" and "caramel on top" varieties (with fruit on the bottom) but this rather unnerves me as I no longer know if I am eating Yogurt or Dessert, kind of too sweet. They also of course manufacture standard fare as well.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry (Chocolate on Top) - This definitely "works" as I am sure the engineers in the kitchen have looked into before marketing but too distracting for my taste.

Dannon - It is questionable wether or not standard Dannon Yogurt will raise any taste epiphanies but they still stand as possibly the top American style brand (at least on the east coast) and in a growing and competitive marketplace also produce Greek style Yogurt.

These were on sale (10/$10)

Mixed Berry - A mild Cherry overtone but then again I haven't had the "Cherry" flavored yet. Mixed Berry appeared to be the front runner in Yogurt sales due to its vanishing shelf availability so I grabbed three of them.

Lemon - I approached this with caution not being a Lemon fan in some respects but heck its worth a try. Extremely mild flavoring, not bad, not great, told ya so.

Peach - A promising addition to the canon, I am indeed a Peachy keen fan. A bit mild for my taste, Peach slivers abound slightly, good thing I am a fan of plain Yogurt as this is almost that.

Raspberry - Been patiently waiting for this one, bet its good. Very good but surprisingly lacking a bit in Raspberriness, maybe its just Dannon in general. Still a winner.

Strawberry Banana - Strawberry is probably the best selling Yogurt and perhaps for a reason, now with Banana. Somewhat more flavorful than some others but I will put that down to the Berry aspect.

Cherry - Rich in Cherry flavor yet still mild. Cherry halves akin to Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream are represented here as well.

Light & Fit -

Greek Mousse - Throw the Mouse out of the house, wrong consistency.

Yoplait - I suppose I am getting "into" Yogurt at a higher point, it being somewhat trendy in its way and with more gourmet brands on the market. Growing up in the 1970's it was pretty much Dannon and a few others (to my knowledge) but Yoplait with its "cutesy" moniker thus far is not up to par, I am a newbie so further investigation awaits me.

Strawberry Probiotic - Very thin, almost drinkable with no chunks of Real Fruit included (wait found a few but very teeny), no wonder it was only seventy five cents.
